when it is necessary for a country to stop being connected with a different country
When, it is necessary for a country to stop being connected with a different country, and to become powerful, and be equal. You have to tell people why you don’t want to be associated anymore.
Everyone has certain important rights that include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To protect these rights, governments exist that get power from the people they govern. And that when a form of government becomes corrupt, it is the right of the people to change it, then create a new one that makes them happy.
Over the years, the kings and rulers of Britain have overseen the colonies with tyrannical rule. We present your evidence that shows that the ruler is not only unfit, but corrupt. The king doesn’t follow your own laws. You ignore people who try to pass important and urgent laws for extended periods of time. You have refused to pass laws in your colonies unless those people accept that they will not get representation within the British Parliament. You have called together legislative meetings for the sole purpose of fatiguing the legislators into submission to make them accept your rule. You have removed our voice by dissolving legislatures repeatedly.
You have kept soldiers in our colonies, even in times of peace, and without consent from us. You have not pressed murder charges on your soldiers, even when the just system of law would find that they are guilty.
We don’t want the British to be here. We have told you of attempts from your legislature of extending their rule over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our colonization and settlement here. We have appealed to your natural benevolence, and we have called them by the ties of our common ancestry to get rid of this seizing, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and communications. You too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of ancestry. We have to send this letter to tell you we’re declaring independence. We are now enemies in war, in peace friends.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the God of the world for the just intentions of our actions, declare this to be true, That these United Colonies are free and independent states; that they are freed from allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is to be dissolved, they have full right to do what they please as a country. We have mutually decided to inscribe our names to show we are willing to support this cause.
