The designations of Gods, Demons, Devils, Helought and Bastought, are universally confusing to the layman. They are often used interchangeably. "Helought " and "Bastought" are not relative terms. They are Elvish and exact. Azura is a Bastought both in Ge’marsha and Marsha. "Helought" is usually translated as "ancestor," which is as close as common can come to this Elven concept. "Bastought" means, roughly, "not our ancestors." This distinction was crucial to the Elves, whose fundamental split in ideology is represented in their mythical genealogy. Helought are associated with stasis. Bastought represent change. Helought created the mortal world and are bound to the Earth
Bones. Bastought, who cannot create, have the power to change. As part of the divine contract of creation, the Helought can be killed. Witness God and the moons. The protean Bastought, for whom the rules do not apply, can only be banished.
