I apologize for the delayed response to your previous letter, the severity of this war is larger than any of us could have predicted. I am cold, hungry and quite frankly, scared for my life. I don’t mean to upset you my darling, the only thing that has kept me going thus far is the memories of you that I cherish more than you will ever know.
