Dear family,
I am a minutemen in the Continental Army with other Patriots. I was at Lexington and Concord today with my regiment, and we are going to go to Bunker Hill. If we win against the Lobsterbacks, we will go back to Lexington and Concord to make sure they didn’t attack while we were gone. After that we will just sit around until we get our supplies. Today they attacked, and we won but they killed a couple of our soldiers with bayonets and took their muskets. They only sent about 35 troops and we found out they
had a spy. I will write back to you a couple days after King George lll stops sending troops in. Today is the last battle, and then I can come home. Today the British attacked, and they killed a lot of soldiers but we won. We didn’t see them, and we rushed in then they fired. I took cover behind a tree by the bridge. We won but sacrifices were made by the brave soldiers. We won our independence and remember the soldiers that died for others independence.

Melvin, Tyler Cook and Sargent Walz.
