May 13, 1774 United Kingdom Dear Thomas Gage, I thought I would tell you why I want you to be the governor of Massachusetts. One reason why I want you to be the governor of Massachusetts is because you have commanded all the British forces in North America. So that tells me
that if something big happens then you will be able to handle it on your own. Nest you have been the army, so if we get attacked you will be able to help out with that. Then, you have been the governor of Montreal, so you have had experience in the governor business. Another reason why I want you to be the governor of Massachusetts is because you have done so much to get a bigger an better job. Some things you have done is you have been a military governor (in charge of the militia), you were clever enough to
distinguish yourself, and you have convinced me about the private letters. You were very persuading when you talked to me. So I am glad you might be the governor of Massachusetts. Hope you do well.
