Dearest friend Captain Kerafyrm,
It is with a full heart I write to you today. I am certain you feel the same pressures from W. that I do. R1 has no staff beyond the yearly regulars. Even Proculvox is gone, and I hear she may be with you? If true, use care. She has an agenda regarding these new crystals, but I cannot be sure what it is. Her former assistant, Dwarven Wizard Gnarlyn, has taken her place and isolates himself in the tower unless he must join the base for routine checkin details.
The
weather has turned early this season. Our path out to The Ten Towns is nearly shut already, but as normal, we are provisioned for the duration. Our tanks of whale oil stand full, but I am at a loss as to how to distribute the oil to the rest of the R. bases. The passes all seem closed already.
Strange activity looms above our peaks. We frequently see puffs of blowoff over the ledge faces even when wind is still. Mild tremors are common.
I hope my Messenger reaches you safely, as the high elevation winds seem
strong for this time of year. I hold great hopes that at the end of this cursed season, you and I may share our customary two-day of relaxation at The Yawning Portal back in W. You are now and forever shall be my closest friend and professional confidant.
Warmest Regards,
Captain Giustinian Horux
