Dear my beloved children, I miss you so much. I can’t wait to return home after my work here in the plantations are complete. I don’t make much money but it will be enough to get us by. The fields are exhausting, but thinking about you motivate me to work harder. How is life back home? I know we don’t have much food, but please try to eat as much as you can. You need to be strong. Here is some money attached to this letter. It will hopefully help buy whatever you need. And to my beloved wife, thank you for working
so hard to take care of our children. I love you, Elizabeth, and I will be home soon. Please wait for me.                   Take care,                      Gilbert
