Dearest Jamie,
I hope this message finds you well. I write you having just suffered through a brutal battle on the neon lit shores of Miami South Beach in what will surely be remembered as one of the bloodiest battles of the Cold War. I watched many of my brothers in arms lose their lives in the most gruesome of ways. I myself suffered several fatalities. Despite the horrendous bloodshed, we prevailed having suffered 76 causalities to the Soviet’s 80 causalities. While my fellow soldiers celebrated, I couldn’t help but wonder what purpose our
sacrifice had served. The location did not seem to be of any military significance. Can you even proclaim victory when your triumph holds no strategic value? My bewilderment was amplified when, within minutes of leaving the battlefield, I was informed that we would be engaging in another armed conflict in the same location. Worse yet, the decision was not made by a commanding officer but rather a simple majority vote of my fellow troops. The chain of command seems to have been destroyed and with it my faith in our cause. While my fate remains
unclear, I simply hope history proves our struggle to be necessary. The violence and bloodshed of the Cold War will be remembered for generations.
Yours truly,
Killtrondor
