Bartley Road Southampton Hampshire SO40 7GN may18, 1873   Dear Anna,       It was a great pleasure to receive your letter, I’m so sorry that I couldn’t reply as fast as I received it. Everybody is busy here trying to sort things out, we don’t have much arrangements here so we have to do everything all by ourselves. You asked me in your letter how Minnesota was and if I was happy hear.       Our journey to Minnesota started really well but it got worse as we were crossing the Atlantic Ocean many people got terribly sick and lost their lives during the journey. I was terribly scared and panicked , all I wished is
that all my family gets to Minnesota safely. Finally we all arrived.       Minnesota is a beautiful place with beautiful lands, but nothing is done here we have to build the town by ourselves. We only have some houses, a police station and a hospital with not much doctors and place. We just arranged a small house as a temporary school  until they build one .I was  happy to see that the constructions off the church, the school, the houses and many other shops were going on a good track but the climate didn’t permit it’s good continuing. Things are going  slower and many people start to
blames themselves for coming here. I stil have hope in this land.
