Enclosed is a first draft of On Liberty, as promised. Isn't it ironic that John Stuart who has dedicated it to me was merely the cypher of our thoughts! I permitted him to note how Utility promotes Liberty, but we both know how our idea of liberty is a complete departure from that contrarian theory of how people actually think ethically.

I wrote to you, though, to invite you to accompany me for another visit to Café de la Sororité wherein to plot how we can persuade him to publish our thoughts on Libertine Insouciance, as I think we should call it.
