To Rook Winter...
My Dear Friend,
I hope this...
My Dear Friend,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wish I was reaching out with more hospitable news. However, regretfully I am writing to inform you of the sudden passing of my husband, Oliver. Though, I’m sure this news has already reached you in the Metropolis prior to my letter.
I know it has been a number of years since we last met in person but, I know Ollie thought fondly of you. So much so he has mentioned you by name is his will. The formal reading of Ollie’s will is the second last Saturday of May. I would be vary grateful if you would attend & I would be more than happy to host you in my home and, if it would suit you, I would love to entertain you as an old friend for a few days. I have many stories that I think would perk your interest. I would ask you kindly to confirm your attendance by letter.
With All My Love,
Helen Swanson.
