Dear Mama Petty, I am writing to you to let you know my intentions with your lovely daughter. As her mother, and a wonderful one at that, I am asking for your blessing to ask her for her hand in marriage. Conventional, we are not, but I promise to always love, cherish, protect, and respect her with the chivalry and adoration that she deserves. We are not in a hurry to get married. I have school to finish, and she is still coming into her own and adjusting to teacher life, but it no longer feels like it is "enough" to call her my girlfriend when our love for each other is deeper. As we approach our three year anniversary, Chey and I have spoken and agreed that we would like to take this next step towards a long engagement. Because you have shown me such love and kindness and because of my own high regard and respect for you, I feel that it is only right to bring this to you next.
