Morissey’s Not-So-Nice Letter To A Hater

If you are not a fan of The Smiths then you might as well just shut your mouth about it. Take for example this letter addressed to someone whom Morissey begrudgingly ripped apart using only this handwritten letter. There are nice things to say to an artist and responding negatively who tries to spread their creativity can lead to a very vicious reply.

Steven Morrissey
384- Kings Rd
STRETFORD
Manchester- M32 8GW

Dear Person,

So nice to know there’s another soul out there, even if it is in Glasgow.

Does being Scottish bother you? Manchester is a lovely little place, if you happen to be a bedridden deaf mute.

I’m unhappy, hope you’re unhappy too.

In poverty,

Steven

Elvis Presley’s Hand For The Government

THE KING OF ROCK & ROLL OFFERING HIS PATRIOTIC SERVICES:

This was a handwritten letter from Elvis Presley to offer his services to the US Government to help in the drug war.

TRANSCRIPTION:

Dear Mr. President:

First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Elvis Presley and admire you and have great respect for your office. I talked to Vice President Agnew in Palm Springs three weeks ago and expressed my concerns for our country. The drug culture, the hippie elements, the SDS, Black Panthers, etc. do not consider me as their enemy or as they call it, the establishment. I call it America and I love it. Sir, I can and will be of any service that I can to help the country out. I have no concerns or motives other than helping the country out. So, I wish not to be given a title or an appointed position. I can and will do more good if I were made a Federal Agent at Large and I will help out by doing it my way through communications with people of all ages. First and foremost, I am an entertainer, but all I need is the Federal credentials. I am on the plane with Senator George Murphy and we have been discussing the problems that our country is faced with.

Sir, I am staying at the Washington Hotel, Room 505-506-507. I have two men who work with me by the name of Jerry Schilling and Sonny West. I am registered under the name of Jon Burrows. I will be here for as long as it takes to get the credentials of a Federal Agent. I have done an in-depth study of drug abuse and Communist brainwashing techniques and I am right in the middle of the whole thing I can and will do the most good.

I am glad to help just so long as it is kept very private. You can have your staff or whomever call me anytime today, tonight or tomorrow. I was nominated this coming year one of America’s Ten Most Outstanding Young Man. That will be in January 18 in my home town of Memphis, Tennessee. I am sending you a short autobiography about myself so you can better understand this approach. I would love to meet you just to say hello if you’re not too busy.

Respectfully,

Elvis Presley

P.S. I believe that you, Sir, were one of the Top Ten Outstanding Men of America Also.

I have a personal gift for you which I would like to present to you and you can accept it or I will keep it for you until you can take it.

The Writing Guide: INTP Personality

INTPs are often called Architects. They use logic to analyze things such as systematized concepts and the whole scheme of things in general. They are very theoretical and eager to find out what is it that makes the world go round. Profound things are more of their thing as they want to discover the wholeness of it. Absorbed in thought, they value their individualism as they seek understanding and explore concepts. They are the great detectives of the mystery in all of the things.

Here are some traits INTPs have that you can focus on if you want to write to them.

Trait #1: Detached

If you want to write to an INTP, you should learn that they are not about the drama. If you want to make them interested, start to converse about a certain issues that are known to be black and white. Ask them their two cents on the matter and they will surely open their mind for you as they are known to have a more precise perspective on a concept or scenario involving things that piques their interest.

Trait #2: Analytical

They might seem aloof but the way they converse is more of a methodical method. They are cerebral people and commonly use intellect instead of emotions. They want to know all the sides of the story so that they can judge the situation or subject fairly. They are known to investigate the reasons behind most of the things that concerns their interests. You can ask them for advice if you want to know the different perspectives of one big picture as they could tell you the details of even the parts of the whole.

Here are some quotes by famous INTPs:

“Religion, which … ought most particularly elevate us, as rational creatures … is that where men often appear most irrational, and more senseless than beasts.”

-John Locke

“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest [understanding of] what is before them … and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.”

-Thucydides

“I could not … write a serious romance [except] to save my life; and if [I had] to keep it up and [not laugh] at myself … I am sure I should be hung before I had finished the first chapter.”

-Jane Austen

Napoleone Bonaparte and his Devotion

If you think that love is grand, well take a look at this masterpiece of a letter by Napoleone Bonaparte. It is a different form of letter writing but somehow weirdly sweet. This is how you revolutionize even in the most subtle way.

A letter of Napoleon Bonaparte to Josephine —

Transcription:

“I love you no longer; on the contrary, I detest you. You are a wretch, very clumsy, very stupid, a Cinderella. You never write to me; you do not love your husband. You know what pleasure your letters give him, and you never write him even six miserable lines! … In truth, my dearest, I am uneasy at having no news from you. Write me four pages filled with those nice, kind things that are such a pleasure to my heart. I hope that ere long I shall seize you in my arms, and cover you with a million burning kisses — burning as though they came from the equator.”

There is some kind to magic with words that not all human beings know. This is the epitome of giving someone the slightest to the gravest of all emotions. Letters are personal as it is written by the hands equating to the physical part of someone’s end. The content letter is the cerebral part of the representation of the person through letter. If you think that being sweet cannot be achieved through burst of different emotions, you should see this letter of Napoleon Bonaparte to Josephine.

The personal touch of a handwritten letter still is the best platform to use in writing. Nothing can trump the effort given every time someone writes a letter. This may be the most vintage way of writing but it is the best.

Steve Martin’s Letter to Fan

Steve Martin is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer and musician. Martin came to public notice in the 1960s as a writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and later as a frequent guest on The Tonight Show. So this semi-handwritten letter is not a surprise to everyone but of course, it’s not Steve Martin without the humorous touch.

His format shows a lot of his dry humor and his comedic personality—

Transcription:

A PERSONAL LETTER FROM STEVE MARTIN

DEAR JERRY,

WHAT A PLEASURE IT WAS TO RECEIVE A LETTER FROM YOU. ALTHOUGH MY SCHEDULE IS VERY BUSY, I DECIDED TO TAKE TIME OUT TO WRITE YOU A PERSONAL REPLY.

TOO OFTEN PERFORMERS LOSE CONTACT WITH THEIR AUDIENCE AND BEGIN TO TAKE THEM FOR GRANTED, BUT I DON’T THINK THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN TO ME, WILL IT JERRY? I DON’T KNOW WHEN I’LL BE APPEARING CLOSE TO YOU BUT KEEP THAT EXTRA BUNK MADE UP IN CASE I GET TO FLINT.

SINCERELY,

STEVE MARTIN

P.S. I’LL ALWAYS CHERISH THAT AFTERNOON WE SPENT TOGETHER IN RIO, WALKING ALONG THE BEACH, LOOKING AT ROCKS.

People see this as sarcasm but this was the comedy that Steve Martin has in his blood. This is funny in so many ways if you only understand dry humor. One of the best and well thought out celebrity to fan mailing. It doesn’t shy away from the reality that celebrities are really swamped with letters and that it would take a lot from their time to reply in each and every letter a fan has sent to them.
