I assume you are aware that the dreaded Homestead Act of 1862 has been passed. I am outraged, and I'm positive you are as well. I know you didn't want it to be passed because then you'd have less land for the creation of new plantations and that the need for slaves would decrease, but this hurts me so much more than you. Now all of my laborers and workers will leave, seeking this $25 for 160 acres, and soon I'll be ruined! I need my cheap labor! Plus we both know it was only passed so that West could gain more representation in the government and to make more territories states. The worst part is that since you are no longer part of the Union this is barely a hindrance to you! Maybe if confederates were allowed to buy land there would be less of an issue! Anyway, we must find a way to end this Act. If only we were't at war right now. See you on the battlefield.
