Dear Chantelle
I know we...
Dear Roger B Taney,
...
Dear Roger B. Taney,
You have brought shame upon us! The people! How dare you disagree with Dred Scott! And you call yourself Chief Justice? You have brought shame upon not only us, nor Dred Scott, but you have brought shame across the African Americans! We will not be treated like puppets, nor will we listen to tyrants like YOU! You may think that you have won, but trust me...This is only the beginning. We have abolitionists! We have a whole army of slaves! And what do you have? An army of tyrants, and torturous beasts!
We, as you so call slaves, will not be treated with disrespect and cruelty any longer. What have we ever done to you? What have we caused that would make you want to hurt us? What have we done that makes you hate us so much? And what have we done to make you act like...MONSTERS! We will not be treated with unjust any longer. We will be treated with the respect that we deserve, we will be treated with equality and freedom, and we will be treated like normal citizens.
You will agree with Dred Scott. You WILL agree with him. YOU WILL AGREE WITH HIM AND END SEGREGATION ONCE AND FOR ALL! Because if you don't, we shall raise a giant army that will overpopulate yours, and we will, and mark my words, we WILL come and attack you by any means until you finally end it. If it involves war, we will do it. We will treat you like you treat us now if and until you realize that you have treated us unfairly.
I hope you understand what disaster you have caused, Roger B. Taney. If you still refuse to side with us, you are no Chief Justice. You are just a regular white man who only cares for himself, and is lazy so much, that he is going to make slaves do all the work for him. Right now, you are no Chief Justice. Right now, you are a criminal! If you want to act like Chief Justice, you treat us fairly, end segregation, and agree with Dred Scott once and for all. Do you hear me, Taney? As you can probably see, I am very angry and I will not go down without a fight. It is your move right now. Take it and be free, or leave it and bring war to your people.
I say that this must end! Now, I will give you an opportunity to choose. But just know this, "Chief", we will NOT be treated like this any longer. I hope you take this letter very seriously and thoughtful when considering. But just remember: One wrong move, and war is coming.
Sincerely,
Anonymous Slave
